Traditional vs. Roth 401(k) Balances
The Oakmont Country Club 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan may include both traditional and Roth sources. This matters because:
- Traditional 401(k): Pretax contributions with taxable distributions
- Roth 401(k): After-tax contributions with tax-free distributions (if certain rules are met)
A well-drafted QDRO should clearly state whether the division applies to all account types or just one. Roth and traditional balances should be separated proportionally unless otherwise agreed. At PeacockQDROs, we make sure each source is accurately split and reported to the plan.
