Employee vs. Employer Contributions
Most 401(k) plans, including the Stohlman Automotive Retirement Plan, have two primary funding sources: contributions made by the employee and those made by the employer. While all employee contributions are immediately 100% vested, employer contributions may be subject to a vesting schedule.
- If your spouse has unvested employer contributions, those may be excluded from the division.
- Check with the plan to understand the current vesting percentage at the time of your divorce.
