1. Employee and Employer Contributions
401(k) accounts typically include two types of contributions: those made by the employee and those made by the employer. In the Pigeon Caterers 401(k) Plan, both might be present. The QDRO should specify how each type of contribution is handled, especially in the case of employer matching.
Some employer contributions might not be fully vested, which means you’ll also need to clarify whether unvested funds are excluded from the alternate payee’s share.
