Employee and Employer Contributions
In the Oldenburg Group Incorporated Savings Plan, both the employee and employer may contribute to the account. When dividing the plan, it’s important to ask:
- Should the division include only the marital portion?
- Does it include both employee and employer contributions?
- Is the employer match fully vested?
Most divorce orders divide the marital portion only—usually based on the date of marriage through the date of separation or divorce. Make sure your QDRO clearly defines how much of the account was earned during the marriage and whether that amount includes interest, gains, and losses through date of distribution.
